HOPE HOUSE

Rev. Israel NDOUNGOU-NDOUNGOU, Pastor of the Christian Missionary and Alliance Church of Gabon for 19 years started HOPE HOUSE in December, 2004.

Reverend Israel has been sensitive to the vulnerable children situation in Gabon for several years. His interest stems from traumatizing experiences he lived as a child.

Some80% of the population of Gabon lives below the poverty level.  It is estimated that AIDS affects over 8% of the population ( pop. is est1.5 million).  Children are the first victims with an estimated 12,000 orphans.

HOPE HOUSE currently provides care for (21) children whose ages range from three (3) to sixteen (16). HOPE HOUSE provides their accommodation, their clothing, their health, their food, their education, and shares the love of Christ with them. All this takes place in a family climate.

By the way currently ( as of July 09) the Israel’s receive no organized assistance with the expense; things are in the works to change this hopefully, but, progress as you can imagine can be agonizingly slow.  Rev. Israel with his wife Nathalie and their two children make their home at HOPE HOUSE and they are the primary support for HOPE HOUSE.  They are doing everything they can to make people aware of the conditions under which many children in Gabon live, and to generate interest in and support for those of Hope House centre.

I am not an authorized fund raiser for either the C&MA or Hope House.  I have been there and met the children and the Israels, so, for me, this is an affair of the heart.  For further information re HOPE HOUSE please give me a call or an E mail and I will direct your questions to my contacts in Gabon or you can contact the C&MA on line at cmalliance.org.  These few words don’t even come close to telling the story they will just whet your appetite.  Please do not send any contributions to me!

As most of you are aware Hope House has moved to a new space with more room for the children.  A reminder however the needs are the same and the rent is now over three times higher than the old place.

The following is a quote from an e mail from Tim the first of the year, at this time as far as I know the need still exist. "A Glaring need for them right now is transportation.  They have someone who has donated  a 2006 Toyota 18 passenger van in good condition but it needs a motor.  Estimates right  now are that a motor would run $4000.00.  This will allow for them to shuttle the kids to and from school/church."    Anyway this is a real need and an immediate opportunity that will be a real boost to Hope House and its service to and for the kids."

If you choose to support Hope House in some manner you can send donations to C&MA and in the memo line enter
1-47490-49-40-12971 support Tim Brokopp Hope House.  To support Tim only just leave off  Hope House. Mail your contribution to Tim & Meredith Brokopp, % Steven Phillips, 120 Pearl Drive, Carlisle, PA 17013.  This is a 501(c)3 tax deductible fund.

The need for assistance with funding for laundry equipment and a part time or full time housekeeper/cook is still out there.  The work load will only increase.  If we can provide funding for these things they may well be able to take in more children.  As long as there are just the Israels carrying the brunt of the load they will be limited simply due to human endurance.  Remember progress is slow and the needs are NOW.  Not to mention, looking forward to when they will begin preparation for construction on the land that has been donated.  Adopt a cause, adopt Hope House.
